common it is possible to cancel an incoming call in a landline if u have a caller id . Simply pull out the pin of the phone.
It depends on the phone. I used to have a landline phone (I’m all mobile now, baby) that had a “SILENCE” softkey in the display when it rang. I could press it and the call would stop ringing audibly to me, but would still ring over to the answering machine.
Just pull out the battery. As soon as the battery is removed the caller will get a message which says “The user is out of coverage area. Please try after some time.” If you just press the reject button, the caller will get a beeping tone and will know that you pressed the reject button.
Don’t pull out the battery too many times though. It may damage your phone. Do it only when you absolutely do not want to answer someone’s call.
