Nokia E72 Review
The Nokia E72 is a high-performance device specifically designed as a business phone, but suits great for personal communication also.
Of course, the Nokia E72 has got almost the same features as its younger brother Nokia E71 - Wifi, Bluetooth, HSDPA, UMTS and a QWERTY keyboard. If you do not have too thick fingers can easily handle them. Besides these features there is a big old camera upgrade implemented, ie 5 megapixels, the camera’s maximum resolution is 2592 x 1944 pixels, unfortunately there is still no optical zoom on this Nokia. The camera is also still not very good at shooting in the dark.
Besides the camera there is an update introduced for better compatibility for fast internet, so fast that within seconds you’re a MP3tje download. Yet another funny feature, there is a compass in case you ever in a Brazilian rainforest gets stuck, your Nokia Maps is also slightly better result.
If you want to watch a movie on your E72 without other nearby burden than there is this much easier, because there is a standard 3.5mm audio jack to be added so you can plug in standard headphones instead of the usual Nokia small jack.
Expectations are that the Nokia E72 as the previous model will be a real blockbuster. This model is preliminary in silver and black.
Disadvantages:
- Camera could be better
- too few standard built-in memory
Good features:
- 3.5mm audio jack
- quick startup time
- compass
In short

E72 Bad Things:-
- It does not auto recognise capital alphabet like E71
- When u type fast it skips some alphabet
- When u insert a Image in a word sheet it doesnt recognise
- Whenever u restart ur phone most of the times u lose your email setting.
- Web browsing is slower than E71
- You cannot underline or use bold or italic through shortcuts in word like Ctrl U, B, I like E71
- This phones hangs now and then like a windows based.
- Contacts shortkey does allow u to add new contact after long hold.
- Basic Barcode reader is missing.
- Web Feeds in missing in he bookmark list, u need to go to setting and find it.
- Mailbox clock switches the date at 12 noon. So u get the mail dated to next date.
- Memory card in setting is missing which was usefull in E71, like format etc.
- Nokia has saved it time by not making new O.S. Has used N-Series user interface which does match with the E-Series User Interface.
- Optical Key not at all usefull
- The System is so slow that even setting come very slow, and if u try to select things fast then it leaves you back to the home screen including surfing mails.
-Battery Backup is only about 1 and half days, and more worse is that u cannot trust this phone as day 1 it shows full battery, and second day you wont even come to know when it comes from full to drain.
- Even if Wi-Fi server is not found it still says Hidden Wi-Fi found.
- In Opera 10 Browser u cannot use ‘U’ it only uses *
- Even space bar key hangs now and then and to use it we need to restart the phone.
People please tell Nokia to find a way out of all this..

Alok, you have made me cautious, before i buy this phone,
December 25th, 2009
i can’t belive my eyes: the reviewer complains about the lack of optical zoom!!!
December 25th, 2009
oh, and can somebody please erase Alok’s comment? the guy either bought the phone from some black market or he is a jealous manager from other companies. i mean when so many sites reviewed this phone as being the best in it’s class here comes Alok filling the page with complains!
Dude, get serious, aw’right?

I bought a Nokia E72 on Sunday and during the last 7 days found about 30 problems with it. Sadly, none of them have been solved by Nokia either through the call centre or at the dealer or at the concept store or at the service centre. Having exhausted all reasonable opportunities I would like other folks to avoid buying this handset. During the next days, I will post one by one, the killer defects in the phone.
December 29th, 2009
and PSR, after so many days you still have come up with, nothing!
December 29th, 2009

Sorry guys but Alok is right about most of what he mentioned. This phone was released to soon but they could not any longer. If the above problems are not dealt with in the firmware update I will have to get rid of this and back to e71.
Give Alok a break. The man knows what he is talking about.

“Alok” is quit correct at certain point, i dont know about other things but really the OS is too slow as compaired to E71 or E63. E72 being having a 600mhz processor however the new flashbased os sucks big time….its toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo slow…if it would not had a 600mhz processor i would not have bought it…

Screen is not the problems, it’s the fonts that can’t be increased. Also, the contacts stinks. It doesn’t compare to the Blackberry structure. The calendar is cramped with the to-do-list so it’s too small to view monthly layout.

I got the latest software ( firmware updated ) version 031.023.c00.01
But still there are lots of problems I have even spoken to the care center manager and he did admit there are problems in this
Let me give u the list of problems so if you can help me out in fixing then fine, or please arrange for a replacement.
1. Whenever I am typing a message few characters are getting missed out as I have an habbit of typing faster and I have never faced this kind of problem from Nokia E71 which I had previously.
2. Web browser is lot slower than E71 whenever I am opening most of time I can see invalid server name but same when I keep refreshing 2 to 3 times it works
3. All the time every 2 mins or 3 mins it asks me to choose the network of WLAN I tried to go to settings and scan for WLAN I have said never but inspite the same error repeated times keeps coming.
4. Optical key doesn’t work when phone is working like when I m speaking to someone on phone I need optical to work it doesn’t work.
5. I don’t need this effect fade in and fade out it looks due to that lots of time is consuming can something be done to overcome the same.
6. Whenever I am speaking on phone and I want to message someone then the space doesn’t work at all, all comes in continue characters.
7. I have configured my email ID using POP3 / SMTP or even IMAP but it doesn’t work at all, but when I have configured Gmail it works well, does it mean that my email id jaswanth@bookandhost.com will not work on Nokia E72, I have configured same format in Nokia E71 and it worked with no issues things were fine enough.
8. The storage of mails is not becoming possible, there are lots of instances that I keep travelling around and I may even need to store 500 mails on my mobile so that I can answer them as and when I get the things but here the day I see the mail in the morning and in the evening its out of my mobile.
9. I request you to please provide me a solution to these problems or else please cancel my Nokia e72 and I ll go with my altime favourate Blackberry

hi i have an ambiquity for E71 &E72..
can anybody tell me which one i prefer
June 10th, 2010
I’ve been using a Nokia E72 since the start of this year and I think many of the problems Alok mentioned is relevant. It gets really annoying sometime and really makes me think if i had actually wasted money, time and energy on this phone. My advice is to give this one a pass. There are certainly many better choices out there, especially with so many phones launched recently. Why get this and regret later on?
June 27th, 2010
Janswath mentioned the waste of time the fade-in effect is, when waking up from the home screen. I had the same problem, but now find that this only happens on the business desktop theme. If I change the theme from business to personal, there is no fade-in and it is much quicker.
I really think that much of what has been said regarding the negatives is due to us not understanding how to use the phone properly. I agreed with some of Alok’s comments initially, but I
now find these no longer apply. It takes a long time to really know phone and the supplied handbook only touches the surface of its capabilities.

I got the latest softwware version 031.023.c00.01. Battery exhaused in 24 hours. After seven day of my purchasing I deposited the battery with Nokia Care Centre. The new phone is lying unused. It does not auto recognise capital alphabet like E71.

August 2nd, 2010

Imma stick with E71 too!
E72 are nice & sexy BUT with all the problems, bye bye E72. E71 is going to be my new baby. tehee..

What alok said is soo true..
Mostly all of the points he mentions have occurred to me in the first day I use this phone.
The functions it has makes up for a lot, but if I could try this phone for a week and then send it back I really would have done that.
(the phone is now 1,5 days in my possession and I am really getting sick of the “big button” reacting double on my presses now and then.
Please do think good about getting this phone.
