i bought this mobile yesterday znd is very handy……none of my mobiles last long due to my rough use ao thia time i opted to buy a cheaper monile…..but it was more than worth the money…but it lacks 3g which i don care due to its cost and i use edge….camera is only average and other tnan tat d other features are really mind blowing….so go for it if you are a budget user….

Great handset ,i purchased it a month ago and found it great comparing music with my N95 8GB and Sony Ericsson Satio ,its great.Sales box earphones are of no quality,but i use sony MDR EX35LP and Creative EP-630 in ear earphones and have a blast.This phone have gr8 cam features and without flash night photos are very clear coz it has greater ISO levels.Video capturing is too good compared to both satio and N95 8GB.And this phone have a symbian s60 5th edition platform so you can do anything install anything, Touch screen is resistive but very very responsive , screen is made of very good LCD with gr8 contrast level.And with in this price range i think its just great…. I guaranty you

Nokia 5233 is a good phone…..i bought this phone on this march….
the phone being nice and great looks, it has some disadvantages….
1> Sound quality is not so good….
2> no 3G….
3> no flash in camera…
the most bad thing is the sound quality….
i wonder how Nokia like company make such a big mistake!!!….sound should be good….
bt then also this phone being cheaper than any other nokia touch screen phones, this mistake can be neglected…..
materials in the box is not too many…
you will get the phone nokia 5233, a stylus, a guitar peck like thing, 1 headset, book, a cd or a free gift voucher, an user manual, battery and no free memory card…
i bought this phone alongwith a 4GB memory card…
despite of all its disadvantages, its a very stylish, durable and a user friendly phone….
i am happy with my 5233….
those who are music freak, i would suggest not to buy this phone…they can buy 5800 or opt for a sony ericson phone….

Its good in cheep smartphones…… having some good features as buffer sound speaker, the internet speed is too fast, having html webkit browser……… u can do nything at ur default browser as u do on ur computer, camera quality is good, & battery backup is good also…… It has not 3g n flash light, but its not a matter @low price of nokia smartphones……..

The sound quality of nokia 5233 is not as good as nokia’s xpressmusic series.
This is becoz nokia 5230 and 5233 lacks stereo speakers , they mono speakers which giv bad sound and output quality.

Brought the 5233 3dayz back…
Pretty good phone…stylish, handy but jus not ment for ppl who want music at low price..Samsung corby or Sony Naite would have been a better choice. Got it for 7k and paid 300Rs more for 2 Gb card. worth a buy if u lookin for a simple touch phone in low range.

I bought nokia 5233 three days back, but got disapponted. It is advertised and told that a Symbian phone can accept any third party softwares, But I regret why Nokia does not sell Symbian phones loaded with basic features.
After purchasing the Nokia 5233, I was disappointed within 2 hours when I found :
1) I can not create a new folder in music or Images section. Preveously I had created separete folders in Samsung D880 as Religious Songs, Gazals,Oldies, Latest Songs in Music Sectionn and Religios Wallpapers, My Family, My Shots and My Wallpapers in Images Section. It is very tiring job to find a particular song / Image among 500 songs / Images. You can only make playlists.
2) You can not rename a file or a song or an image. You can search a particular song but first you will have to rename it from Track07 or 99MP3.
I regret to buy this phone. Will any body tell me from where I can get thirdparty softwares for these basic features. My Mob: 09915578366

Mob. 5233 is really very affordable but certain features are not available.
sound quality is not so good.
there are problems in map – nevigation –
one cannot make its own folder, rename file, etc.
still at such a price one can purchase a smart phone.

Nokia 5233 is slow phone it takes 2 sec.for opening main menu,or other folders,camera& video recording is better than another 2mp cameras,gprs speed is low

5233 Screen is very large its not a QVGA display Its a NHD display at 16:9 ratio not good phone yet,but i suggest to buy nokia 5235 ovi music unlimited & nokia 5230 is good choice because it have 3g and a-gps which works better missing wi-fi & video calling is not big problem bcz 3g is not launched in india yet,single mono speakr is very tiny and sound not too good so music lovers not like that phone yet,well nokia 5230 is not available at this time yet updated to firmware v12 to v20 with new features and car holder for voice guided navigation,satellite and street view

Bhaiyo koi to mujhe bhi pasand karo.i’am best then all,expect i don’t have 3G but i can challenge iphone 3G BCAUSE-Iphone does’nt have fm radio,no bluetooth transfer files to another phone,iphone heated quickly in working times,iphone not have a file manager,iphone have less resolution screen,iphone have not flash support in safari web browser,iphone doesn’t have that features but nokia 5233 have that features

5233 is a gr8 phone… considering the price its well above supremacy… nd wah telse.. its a gr8 smartphone…
the phone is so fast nd try a mem card it will be faster…
the sound is indeed good and hav a nice bass effect… even though its not xpressmusic still it rocks. speaker quality is also good.
symbian 60 really packs a puck in this cell…
ya nd the only disadvantage is that it dont hav ne 3g… so ne 1 lukin for 3g.. keep out!!!
overall value for money 10/10.

This one is my first branded phone i purchased after using China phones, but let me tell you it is very WORST than other CHINA phone compare to many fearures.

I am using this phone from quite a while now
It runs majority of the applications compatible with nokia 5800
Though the sound quality is dissapointing (hey its not music phone), But with high quality headphones you can take care of that (I personaly use Sony inner-ear and it sounds pretty good “

The answer to SMK and bluehuge questions would be….
1) for bluehuge definitely go for the 5230 if you got extra 1 grand to spare… it will give you 3g and the rest of the features and specification are the same or I would say similar. The market price for 5233 is somewhere around 6400/- whereas 5230 its around 7400/- but the market price differs from state to state. So check with your local stores about it.
2) For SMK your question was quite tricky for a moment but why the heck would you put sony ericsson naite out there in the list… Naite is a high end phone which will drastically make hole on your pocket besides the price being around 20k. so if cost is not the issue than you should definitely go in for the SE Naite which is ofcourse far more better than the rest of the phone you have mention, 5233, corby and Lg pep… which are in range from 6k-10k.. Although My next option will be LG pep but taking a look at 5233 it does seems a good deal or Samsung corby isn’t that bad too… cos all of the phone you mentioned besides NAITE all of them are quite affordable as well as value for the money. This phone Nokai 5233,lacks in sound clarity.And when u are in traffic or on road which is noisy ,you can not listen to the caller.A big failure in providing the very basic feature(music quality is secondary).
And 1 more thing, u cannot view ur songs in folder structure(even if u place them in that structure in memory card.

yuh i agree with SHAH… its a total value for money but there are other options in the market which consumers can explore and provides much better features.. but always the Name of the Brand stands out when it comes to Mobile phone in India.. that’s NOKIA…
And to VENKAT… i don’t think your point of proving to not buy nokia 5230 or 33 really is dubious… with any phone you go out on the traffic and noisy places… you are bound to have problem hearing.. so thats really not gonna stop anyone from buying this, i doubt that. and secondly why do you need to view songs in different folders while you can make your on playlist and listen to the songs.. its really silly of you too mention that.. either your really a nut case or your an amateur in all this technology things
FOR RAHUL… its easy! go for the 5235 where you can get unlimited download songs free but provider charges will be applicable though…
ADDY you really sound like a maniac…This phone is an introduction of nokia trying to provide affordable touchscreen aimed for those people who are tight on budget as well who can’t afford those high end phones.. they have done much better jobs than motorola and sony erricson.. but comparing it to samsung it does lacks behind. but no one is perfect everyone has their downpoint

The basic features what a mobile should provide are:
1. clear and optimum sound and speech for talking
2. non-sluggish and friendly interface
3. battery backup
4. speaker and ringer volume & quality
5. easy to use , in general
I have personal experience of LG cookie and Samsung Corby. Both are in competition, and are more or less same.
What 5233 has more is:
- excellent video recording (640×480@30fps)
- Excellent screen
- smoother interface (tough menus take time to open, scrolling is fast and smooth)
it lacks the basic feature of calling – voice clarity. Corby wins here.
But I would suggest – no Corby, no Cookie, no 5233, even if you see them as a steal for 6000/- Get something else.

NOKIA 5233 is an excellent mobile in its price. Sound is good but slow. Picture quality is FANTASTIC and video quality is phenomenal. All third party gets supported once few softwares get signed by another software called ‘FREE SIGNER’. Colour quality is the best. Very fast than other 60 series V5 edition moiles.
Nokia KEEP IT UP.

Well Nokia 5233 XM seems to be quiet good in terms of price. The cell phone lacks 3G and wi-fi buts thats not needed unless you are a serious cell phone geek ! I dint understand what the Proximity Detector is all about ! I bought the cell phone on 20/7/2010 from Univercell store in Bangalore for 6650 INR !
The loud speaker is one of the worst feature! No wireless FM! I appreciate the 3.5mm jack which gives a superb sound effect when connected via headphones! Again the Internal memory is superb wit almost 82mb built-in the phone functions really smooth!
Another factor that troubles me is the touch screen which is not that great and has a low life period! The screen guard is also of poor quality! The white and silver model looks good but it also accumulates dirt faster !
The phone lock is not that great and uneasy to use! The main parts most likely to get damaged with time would be:
1) Touch screen
2) Lock key
Conclusion :
Superb and attractive design
1) very low price
2) Not good loud speaker
3) Not good touch screen
4) Not good screen gaurd
5) No 3G
6) No wi-fi

nokia 5233 is a nice touchscreen phonein rs. 6500 otherwise u would nt think of getting a touchscreen below 7000 from the highly rated nokia. But it has mono speakers so not having a loud music sound. Good for web browsing. A must buy phone from nokia. Good battery backup. I luv my 5233.

To be frank,ieven wonder is this a nokia product? .Worst ever used mobile (used 6 models of mobiles so far. I see only more negatives than any of its features.. Nokia do you have any plan to call back these scraps from market!! that will be better. This is not giving battery back up. mobile hanging evene if the totall memmory content is below 1GB. slow opening, improper working of tilting screens. time display reducing for 5-6 minutes day by day. IS it a tested mobile (or a test for the customer). screen not working..PLEase dont buy this product (its for customer benefit). I will never buy even NOKIA product from now.

i bought this phone a couple of weeks ago and im happy with it!
Although it doesnt have great sound it is a decent phone!
If you have an ipod and dont need a good music player on ur phone i recommend this one.
Its not the best phone out there but for $200 AUS its better than other phones in its price range. If you want better features u will just have to pay more!

Advantages:
=price wise greatly Affordable
=stylish
=great support for apps,games
=large screen
=great in using internet
=good cam quality
Disadvantages:
=Sound is not good(its not a music phone people
=its not a premium quality device( in this price u cannot get an iphone) ,,cummon!
=The touch screen is little resistive,but works OK
=has a plstic body that may be disliked by some of people
Overall 5233 is a great phone in usage, its for people who care for budjet and is not for music lovers.

Proximity Detector is nothing but a small inbuilt device which locks your phone’s screen when the kept neat our ears (Not Always) only while in a call.

Hi guys! I just bought my nokia 5233 last july 9,10.. Yeah, i agree that this phone is n0t really into high quality of music, no flash & no wifi.. But u can’t xpect m0re on this budget phone.. In my opini0n, nokia 5233′s feature takes m0re of its price.. It has great features! A tactile touchscreen feedback, good quality pictures & camera than any other 2 MP phones, faster web browsing & you can install great applications that are also applicable with xp5800.. So for th0se who are upset with poor sound quality, don’t loose hope.. You still have a chance.. Just download an mp3 player,particularly @ mobile9.com, then surely u’ll start to be contented & happy with the phone that you have.. Don’t xpect m0re, be c0ntented.. =) just what i did!

i think that 5233 is the current best mobile of nokia….talking of 3g.it is still unavailable.and it is very costly to use…..camera clarity is really gud and in pc its look like 3.2 pixel image……….you can install unlimited applications and softwares.and they run really fast…..640x360n(HD) resolution is not a joke…..video clarity is just like HD….i recommend to use ultra mp4 converter for this mobile….also recording at 30fps is awesome……..finally i say that nokia is giving 9000 mob in 6500…just go for it……..fuck yhe corby and other

Hey I bought Nokia 5230 in march’10. It was a gr8 phone but d only prob was, from the very next day it restarted randomly(dats a bug dat Nokia could not resolve and finally the production has been stopped).fortunately/unfortunately my Nokia 5230 was dropped in water and its gone

My frnd bought Nokia 5233, and dat one is working absolutely fine.
The best thing i like about this phone is Camera picture quality(best resolution @ 2 MP among all the sets at this range) and Video Capture capability in VGA @ 30 fps(in videos taken @ TV settings,you wont even differentiate whether it is taken from Mobile or Camcorder).
About Music:it is true dat d external speaker is not enough to make a blasting sound(remember its not a Chinese phone),neverthless if you realy want to enjoy the music,i would suggest to buy Nokia Headset WH-205(which i got along with Nokia X3),simply plugin and enjoy the stereo surround music with Bass On/Off.(for this headset u might have to pay Rs.700,chkout dealers in ur area)
About GPS n 3G: it has A-GPS dat runs on Network(EDGE/GPRS)or Bluetooth connection wid other GPS transeiver unlike Nokia 5230/35 or 5800 in which the GPS chip is factory fitted,but at this low price u can compromise a little and better activate Mobile Office through Airtel and can enjoy navigation.
3G is launched in India by BSNL,if u really a internet hi speed maniac or need to make video calls very often..then go for higher end phones like 5800 as 5233 does’nt have secondary camera.(with EDGE it works absolutely fine, I enjoyed a lot browsing in my Nokia 5230)
Atlast comparing wid Samsung Corby:
No doubt samsung has set its own height but Nokia still is most reliable company in India(i know u’ll agree wid me in this point).
Corby’s touch screen is of Capacitive type and Nokia 5233′s is of resistive.
if you are comfortable using stylus all the time then go for Samsung or else go for 5233 as it does’nt create problem if we use fingres.
by the next week I am goin to buy Nokia 5233 or if mood changes n budget supports then 5800

you dont need to install wallpapaers..
just goto zedge website and download it.(wallpapers are not installed but copied or downloaded),or else copy some of the wallpapers of your choice from your PC to memory card.It will be displayed in galary automatically.
about themes: this set supports symbian 60 applications.
Usually u simply have to click on download link in zedge site,if it does’nt support …that means the extension of the file is’nt “.sis”
look for .sis files for themes.
I would suggest you to download themes and wallpapers from Zedge site from PC not your Mobile.But remember for that u need to set your phone model to 5233 in the website before browsing themes and wallpapers.
After you have downloaded all the files,simply copy it to phone(better in memory card).Open the file manager from your cell phone and browse to the location where u’ve pasted the files(.sis)
It will prompt you to install.follow the instructions.Your themes will be downloaded.
Let me know in case of further issues.

I could really use some help here!!…
Well i bought a 5233 in august.It worked fine for a month and then just got switched off.I went to the nokia help and they sent my phone to delhi as it could not be repaired here(i’m in mumbai). They later let me know that the phone cannot be fixed and that i was getting a new replacement. I went to collect it and they give me a phone with dust in the panels and a gap near the side panel which does not happen in a new phone.Because of its condition i did not collect it and asked for another one. Now they say this is the replacemnt sent from delhi. Sooo i just use my phone for a month and these procedures with nokia care have taken 3 weeks and still no new phone.
Please help me as to how to go about with things. What should i do???

i do not post reviews normally..but i feel for people who are planning to buy nokia 5233 but are being troubled by above comments..so the basic thing is you guys have a budget of 7000..so you can buy 5233 or any corby..i have had both samsung corby and nokia 5233 so let me settle the deal once and for all. let’s have a boxing game between nokia 5233 and any corby available in that range (cause if 5233 are corby are only good fones available in >7000k)..okay so lets start..nokia 5233 is a SMARTPHONE samsung is not…and that itself is the knock out punch..samsung corby loses straight away. those who say nokia aint a good music phone..lol…do you know how many types of file nokia can play?? nearly 7..whereas samsung can play only 3gp videos and mp audios! if samsung corby can offer you 100 apps and games nokia being a smartphone can offer 10000! you can change themes of your phone on nokia, it can look different each day..on samsung..lol a single wallpaper..that is all you can play with! the crux of the matter is..if you want a good looking phone..go for corby but if you actually want A PHONE go for 5233. in the range 7000 no phone is as good as nokia 5233…surely in range 10000 best phone is samsung galaxy 5 with android 2.2!!..but its all about budget..if you dont buy 5233 you’d buy corby..and that is one hell of a silly thing to do. YES 5233 is not as good as 5800..lol it doesnt have a 3 mp cam and maybe a lil bad sound quality..but are you so dumb that you don’t realize that its just rs. 6500?! if you want a phone with terrific sound amazing camera and stunning looks..go ask your dad for more money..do not post crap over the net and scare people!

Each and every phone has its positive and negative points. Nobody or rather nothing in this world is perfect. To compare Samsung Corby(which really sucks), LG CookiePep and Nokia 5233 with each other isn’t such a good idea. All these phones stand out in their own places.
Of these 5233 provides you with a very good 3.2 inch resistive touch screen which probably both LG and Samsung lack. Corby has a good user interface whereas Cookie’s got great looks. What one should be looking for when buying one of these that what do you want your phone to have. Ain’t it right????

Its a grrrreat phone…..i will recommend this phone coz….it hs so mny apps and games which are excellent.there are a few apps which work in nokia 5233 even if it is not applicable.there are mny motion sensor ames avalable on net for free…for the price it is really worth the 7K u hve paid.i will give this 4 stars!

Nice handset, I purchased it a month ago and found it great comparing music with my N95 8GB and Sony Ericsson Satio ,its great.Sales box earphones are of no quality,but i use sony MDR EX35LP and Creative EP-630 in ear earphones and have a blast.

corby doesnt support 3rd party softwares. touch sensor of corby is skin touch while in nokia u can use both skin touch and nail touch. touch senson quality is good in nokia

Hi, Can any one help me out? nokia 5233 voice command is driving me crazzzzzy…..whenever i plug my earphone it sayz voice command tutorial n activate voice command option pops up..even if i cancel it it keeps on comming again and again…and finally I activated it…and now i am not able to use my head phones

I tnink it’s grvty sensor &touch app.s are well than sams. 5233. Picture clarity is nice. But most boring is that we can’t see pictures in folders from file mngr in sequence which is available in low cost phones! I tried to install bolt lite software but i’m unable to install it is displayed that jad and jar attribjtes doesnt match frnds pls help!

Well friends, nokia is always good, but if u r buying this phone for music purpose, please dont buy it, because the amplifire used in it is of cheap quality. So it cannt provide u a better sound quality even after using costly headphon. So if music is the purpose don’t buy it. But for net browsing motion gaming, smart phone application, u can do anything by using third party application, touch screen is good. And no other issu for software s60 v 5 if u know how to deal with it. For music go through sony, nothing is better then it. None of the other reputed company providing this much facilities at this price. So if music is not an issue go through it. It will rock.

Noika 5233 is some wht better in this Price.
But it giving low sound. for this price v won’t expect Flash. But stupid phone some times get over heat and getdown the charging with in ten hours. Its accepting third party application like PDF reader, calls blocking its wonderfull. if v use 5800 head phones the sound clarity is good. who wants stylish phone they can purchase NOKIA 5233 no prob.

Before saying 5800 is the best we should think abt its price 5233 lags only in 3g,wifi and 5800 has 3.2mp camera but it is dull at night even it has flash. 5233 is good in that. So 5233 is also good

great mobile i purchased it a month ago and my opnion is its the grea phone i have ever seen. i have compared it with my wave525 and sony xperia also with my galaxy tab alos best part is we can use win 98 os in the mobile by using dosbox.also we can play n gage games on 5233 i think that you should buy it. what you say?

Nokia 5233 is the best value_for_money cell phone.. It has a screen which supports 16 million colors!! It has the symbian s60v5 os.. Which is also present in x6.. You can get more than 1 million apps.. It has a 2mp camera and 30 fps video recording.. It has a 460mhz processor with 128 mb ram.. Which is more than the working power of the brain of its various haters.. Maybe it doesnt have 3G or flash.. But i can assure you, your gf doesnt want to see your face everyday… Also i m not one of the guys tryin to impress girls by playing loud music in front of them so i dont care about the loudspeaker.. Try tweaking the equaliser.. And those who have problems with their cell phone.. You need to learn how to use cell phones.. Properly!!

Yeah Nokia 5233 is the best buy at cheap price.
The Battery Backup is very good.It’s last for 2 days for a medium user.Very much better than samsung phones in batterylife and also in OS. Samsung doesn’t support apps too.But Nokia S60 5th version supports bundles of apps & games.
You think that on web iphone apps or the leading, its not true you find many of symbian apps……….

I bought this phone for my husband and he absolutly loves it. He is a type of person who doesn’t like new touch screen phones. So to make this transition smoother for him I got him this phone that combines best of both worlds and he just loves it. It gives him ability to still use keypad if he’d like as well as slowly get use to touching technics. In addition, this phone is very “good” looking: small and modern looking, which is a big plus. Also, pics are great, talk hours are great(even though it is half touch phone, easily go for three days without charging). In general, great phone for people who still would like to use keypad.

as far as i know, this Nokia 5233 is a cheaper edition of Nokia 5230. the differences between the two are about 3g connection which unavailable in Nokia 5233 some minor abilities found in Nokia 5230. they both lack in loudspeaker’s volume which i guess below average among smartphones, this is also happen to iphone’s loudspeaker. However, i disagree with most comments about their sound quality. Nokia 5230 according to a sound test held by gsmarena.com has the best frequency respond which means very good even superb quality output sound. I’ve compare the output sound between the phone with Samsung galaxy mini, and some of Sony Ericsson phones and yeah, this phone’s sound is better than them. (FYE: do know that Samsung and iphone are considered have the same sound quality? well, this is because iphone uses Samsung’s equalizer built in) You need to listen to its sound carefully when you’re comparing to other phones. it has been proven that Nokia 5230 has smoother sound. Just like i told you before that Nokia 5233 is a cheaper version of Nokia 5230, so i guess their sound quality is just the same which means Nokia 5233 also has good even one of the best quality sound among touchscreen smartphones. And the problem is just about its loudspeaker.
