well if your willing to shell out some cash, spb mobile shell is an excellent replacement
if your looking for some freeware ones you’ll have to do a bit of searching through
they have some excellent stuff on there thats created by the members of the forum.
if your looking for just plugins try:

I use the htc home plugin like on the htc touch and a few others .
The buttons are big enough so that with your most commonly accessed files you do not have to get out the stylus
